The Journey to Freedom

While I was sitting in the airport to fly home, I had some time to do some reflecting.

To start, last February I started a brand new journey. It was horrifying, exhilarating, nerve wrecking, relaxing…all the feels. Literally, all the feels. Fast forward…

For the past four days I’ve been in Salt Lake City to learn everything I could about Young Living. I first fell in love with this company because it helped Jack so much with sleep (I just wanted sleep!), but then I found emotional support and seasonal support for myself. Then, Tim found products he loves for pre and post workout. I’ve found oil combos that help alleviate temper tantrums, that help little boys with owies and I could go on and on.

I didn’t get oils to start a business. I had failed at network marketing before, so I certainly had no intention to do that again. I was so wrong for thinking this–that all networking marketing companies are the same. And yes, I just said I’m in network marketing. Why? Because I believe in the power of these products and 100% believe they should be in every single house. EVERY SINGLE HOUSE. Everyone should have the chance to fall in love. Because I have so much conviction, I left teaching and decided to go all in with Young Living. Because I BELIEVE that much in the product.

You don’t have to start a business to get going with oils. In fact, most people don’t do the business. They just love their products. But if you want to start the business journey, you can do that too, and I would be thrilled to have you along on this journey with me. This company aligns 100% with MY education and MY passions and it gives me the opportunity to share these passions with others. The chance to reconnect with long time friends and to make amazing connections with new friends.

This life is bigger than working for the weekend. This life is about relationships and fulfilling what you were put here to do. To live passionately, to love passionately (and oil up while doing it, of course!). This life is precious and this planet offers us so much more than what processed products do and we need to value it as such.

This year’s theme was Freedom. Freedom to do all the things. And guess what? I HAVE taken my freedom back and I hope you can see that joy and happiness within me here in social media land or in person.

This joy, this happiness, this wellness is in surplus. This means YOU can have it too. And when I say surplus–I mean surplus. You can join the journey across the world. Literally. Across the world. And better yet…YL announced markets opening in China and the Philippines. You know I love educating, and truly felt called to it. I love helping people achieve their best lives. I truly, passionately want to help you, too. If you are tired of the stress, the physical ailments, the feeling that you don’t have control of what your family is using to even clean the house, I am here to help you take control back. I am here to show you how EASY it is. Let’s do this.

When you experience being on the farm where the lavender is grown, and you get to feel the mountain air and sunshine on your face and the true passion and commitment this company has for its products and members, you will understand. Join this journey with me and be confident in that step. Know my belief in this journey is so much bigger and stronger than any disbelief thrown my way ❤️❤️❤️

Be You.

If you’re not feeling vibrant, energized, glowing, happy and healthy in every fiber of your being, something is wrong.

IMG_1732

Very wrong. Because we all deserve to feel our very best each and every day. We all should strive to be the very best-versions-of-ourselves every. single. day.

Furthermore–if you’re not feeling your best and you find yourself comparing yourself to others, stop. There is only one you–and YOU should be YOU. Not Jenny from the block. Nope. Just You.

Despite the fact that we all constantly feel some form of stress, fatigue, that we’re not the right weight, that we don’t do our jobs the best way, blah, blah, blah…they are not a normal feelings and we should never accept them as normal feelings.

Put your health first and get honest about what needs to change so that you can always feel amazing. So that you can always strive to be the best-version-of-yourself.

An easy way to start feeling amazing, is to eliminate products that have been exposing you to chemicals and toxins. In this article, studies have shown that those cleaning products that you buy off the shelf have been found to be just as impactful on your health as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Those candles you love? Same thing.

But guess what? You can make a huge difference and feel your health soar simply by choosing to become a member to Young Living. YL provides alternatives to candles, cleaning products, bath and body products, makeup, supplements…you name it. And you can feel confident in using Young Living products because of the Seed to Seal guarantee.

So you do you–and you do what is necessary to feel amazing.

I’ll do me and what is necessary to feel amazing. AND, if you want to join me in ditching and switching to Young Living products, click here and select “Member.” Choose the starter kit you think is best for your household–contact me if you need help deciding which is best for you. I will in turn help you learn all the amazing things about Young Living products and introduce you to an amazing oil community. Win!

XOXO.

Time Away

Setting intentions is the very best way to get your thoughts together, create an action plan and make life work for you.

Setting intentions can sometimes be compared to daydreaming. What does your perfect life look like? How can you achieve that vision?

According to my moon guru, “Where do you wish you were right this moment? What is your dream destination? One of the things listed in my perfect day is waking up to the light coming in my window, and the sound of the ocean outside. Getting up and sitting on a porch with a warm cup of coffee or tea, listening to the waves and the calming motion of the water. What does your dream day look like? How can the universe get you there if you haven’t proclaimed it? Spend some time today writing out your dream day in specific detail. Aries new moon acts as the beginning of the zodiacal year with Aries being the beginning of the signs of the zodiac. Consider this a fresh start for 2018 and get clear on how you can move forward towards your dreams. Let’s manifest.”

What’s better than day dreaming?

Ummm…actually getting to do what you dream about.

This past weekend I had the luxury of leaving the kiddos behind and driving into the Ozarks with my husband (partner in crime, bestie, whatever you want to call him) and some good friends. (If you’ve never been to Big Cedar Lodge, I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s perfect for a couples weekend away or a family trip).

And during that time, I was able to clear my mind. Relieve the stress and just jump off the grid. It was fabulous. I was also able to clear my mind and focus on my goals and intentions–to set up a map, will you, to guide me through this next phase.

We ALL need days like that. Seasons come and go, so don’t put off these days until tomorrow.

Sit down and write your dream day. MANIFEST it into your life. Meanwhile, here are some pictures of me enjoying a daydreaming weekend.

Today is Your Day My Sweet Boy

Three years ago today…It was about 5am–9 days BEFORE you were scheduled for an early c-section. I felt different, so I stood up–and low and behold–you and my body informed me it was in fact time for you to come.

You entered the world on your own terms, fought issues like a prize fighter and got to come home when you were 7 days old.

We have literally NOT STOPPED since you entered our lives.

You are smart, funny, fiercely loyal. You are perfectly ok with independent play–or group play. You decided to not talk until you were over two years old, but once you started, well…you haven’t stopped.

You are my best buddy and give the best snuggles and sloppy kisses.

You are obsessed with technology, purses and glasses. OBSESSED. You have a “gank-et” that you must have nearly everywhere (translation: blanket).

You are so much fun to watch learning this world and where you fit into it. I hope you always keep this free, fun-loving spirit. It is inspiration for the rest of us that have a tendency to take life a little too seriously. You live and love in the  moment, and that’s the way we should all be. You remind us of that.

You are the light in my mind, body and soul and you drive me to be the best version of myself.

I love you more than anything and I look forward to watching you grow into a strong, handsome man. Keep us laughing my sweet boy.

Love you always and forever my Clay-Clay.

XOXO

Mama

Opinions

If you’ve known me for any length of time, or if you don’t know me at all, for that matter, you may have figured out a little quirk about me. I love to keep those that have chosen to love me unconditionally on their toes. ALL THE TIME.

And that my friends, is no exaggeration. I’m spontaneous, but I am not. I have horrible habits. I make terrible decisions. But, at the same time, I have fantastic habits and make fantastic decisions. I love to help wherever I am needed, I love to donate time, talent and treasure to organizations that are dear to my heart. I am literally all over the place.

And for YEARS I battled with this. “Be the person you’re supposed to be.” “Set goals to accomplish success.” “Just behave.”

Oh those phrases drove me crazy. I went to school to become an advertising extraordinaire. Five years into my career, I was miserable and had an unbelievable calling to be in the classroom.

So, I went to get my Masters and I became a teacher.

And I was there for almost 8 years–but then found myself miserable again. I mean– a deep, dark misery that stemmed from events completely out of my control. But as each event occurred, I found myself spiraling out of control into a place I didn’t want to be.

When you get into your headspace, really get into it, you realize that there is really only one shot at this life, and it really isn’t necessary to be miserable in your choices. So I made a conscious decision to find my new happy. To follow my joy.

Is that path easy? Absolutely not. It has twists, turns, bumps and dark places. It includes learning to live in a way that you have never lived before. New habits, new schedules, new everything. And it is overwhelming at times.

Why do I write all this for the world to read? Because, I want you to know that you are not alone. EVER. There is somebody, somewhere going through a very similar journey as you.

And most importantly, maybe you’re approaching a crossroads that is frightening and you are terrified to choose the wrong path. Just know this:

“Other people’s opinions are none of your business.”

I recently read “Girl, Wash Your Face-Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Are Meant to Be” by Rachel Hollis. It has been very eye opening to say the least. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.

Yep. IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS what others think of you. Because YOU DO YOU, good/bad/everything in between.

I don’t strive to be perfect anymore. I own up to my mistakes, I own up to my successes. I own up to my life. I strive to be imperfect — I’m perfect.

The best decision I have made in this turbulent year or so has been to join the oil community. It’s so much more than products. It’s a group of individuals that have come from every walk of life and joined together under one common passion: essential oils.

Sleep. Wellness promotion. You name it, there’s an oil for that. And a community that is so happy to walk you through the journey. If you are the least bit interested in what these can do for you, I encourage you to visit The Oily Life and join us (links are provided to get started). If oils aren’t your thing–still check it out, you will be surprised how versatile oils are for EVERYONE.

And I’m finding my happy. I want the same for you. If all you get from reading this stream of thought is that you are not alone, then I will be happy for you. Because you are not.

Let’s be perfectly imperfect together.

Hang On Mama

This morning was a doozie. It started off somewhat calm, and normal, but quickly escalated into something that made me turn into Mama Monster, which then made me have extreme Mama Guilt for the rest of the morning.

I got hit with Mickey Mouse because no jackets fit (mind you, he was WEARING a fleece-so, yeah kid, your jackets aren’t going to fit over that). A temper tantrum then pursued–and all threats of discipline fell on deaf ears.

Of course, I’m thinking the entire time I’m throwing these threats around that this will actually punish ME more than HIM because I will be at home alone with him this afternoon and evening. Insert the beginning of Mama Guilt.

But the doozie wasn’t any of those things. The doozie was, when my little five year old was getting out of the car, I told him I loved him, as I do every morning. And you know what he did? He looked at me and said nothing. He said nothing! The door closed behind him and tears welled up in my eyes.

He didn’t say I love you back.

Talk about a Mama feeling like a failure moment.

When I was in my twenties and even when the hubby and I decided it was time to grow our family, no one could have told me how to prepare for these kinds of moments. No advice, no opinions, no experience could have prepared my heart for the hurt that moments like this fill in your mind, body and soul.

There are lots of moments like this–and I know there will be many more. I mean, I’m only just beginning.

So, here’s the thing.

I’ve been that mama that has left a cart in the store and carried a screaming child out. I have been that mama that has sat at iHop (because my little boy loves iHop and I was trying to treat him) crying into my pancakes, putting all the food (untouched) in to-go boxes and carrying two (TWO) screaming children out. I have stood in our church vestibule with two children crawling over my feet, misbehaving — at CHURCH–with no words to say to them. Only tears would come and only tears streamed down my cheeks. I have packed up literally EVERY SINGLE TOY in the play room and locked them in the attic.

I have felt like a failure.

Why do I write all of this?

Well, because I KNOW I am not alone. Because in all of those moments – something has occurred to show me I’m not alone. And I write this because, these words might just be what some Mama needs to read today. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I have had a store employee walk quietly behind me and tell me not to worry about the cart–to take a deep breath and do whatever I needed to do to calm the crazy monster. I have had a family at the next table attempt to entertain my crazy monsters while a waitress helps me to box up the untouched food. I have had women walk up to me and simply HUG me–no words, just a hug–while tears are streaming down my face. I have had people walk calmly behind me and help me to pack up all the toys and place them in the attic.

And I KNOW why they do it. Because they’ve been there. They KNOW no words are going to help at that moment. They KNOW no advice, no opinions, nothing–but quiet action–are going to help settle your heart in that moment.

So hang on Mama. Tomorrow is a new day. And the little monsters may have decided to be tyrants this morning, and maybe into the evening…but the little monsters will also give you BIG KISSES, lay heads on your shoulder, tell you sweet dreams, because YOU are their Mama. And, no matter what they say or do, they LOVE YOU.

XOXO.

I apply topically to my wrists and neck, Stress Away -which is a blend formulated to help relieve everyday stresses and tensions so you can live a healthier and happier life, and finally, I apply Progessence Plus to my upper arms because, let’s be honest, maybe sometimes the fault of tension does not lie on the Little Monsters, but instead, on Mama’s hormones.
